Why is everyone so vengeful and bloodthirsty?

I keep seeing people complaining on this site about how annoying it is that YC isn’t killing more people. I understand wanting to see more action (I too get annoyed at 2 chapters of explaining how great it is that someone became a Monarch under 60, and then we have 1 chapter of YC fighting) but it seems people just want him to kill everyone he comes across. QY comes to him? Kill her. He sees the Cicada the first time? Kill her. Yun clan doesn’t immediately bend over backwards for YC even though they barely know him? KILL THEM ALL!

One of the things I really like about Mars’ storytelling is that, unlike some other stories, the people are more dynamic and complex. People aren’t just purely evil or purely good and that, from a different perspective, their actions make sense and are justified. For example, the Moon God DM was a really nice guy. He essentially got cucked in front of the entire God Realm by YC and instead of sending people to slaughter him, he actually wanted to help him (after the initial shock wore off). But, at the same time, he did abduct Jasmine’s mom and caused a lot of pain for the family (though he was tricked into doing it) so we did want to see him punished. I remember feeling bad when he died but at the same time I felt happy that Jasmine got her vengeance on him. I really like this about the story that I am almost conflicted about whether the person needs to be punished or spared.

A similar thing is happening now with the Yun Clan. With the exception of YX who is being a dick, everyone else in the clan has been super accommodating to YC and I get that he’s annoyed that they risked Yun Chang’s life and were going to do a forbidden blood technique, but from their perspective, it is the ONLY hope that they have to save the clan. Like, if they can’t get powerful enough within 7 days, they will die so why not throw caution to the wind. So when I see people calling for YC to slaughter the entire Yun Clan, to me it serves no purpose since (1) he wouldn’t really get any resources and (2) they didn’t really do anything TOO bad.

You like that cucked Moon guy?..good for you…I plainly hated his existence…& I love slaughter of Retards…but I also feel that we will get a bigger payout with much greater momentum…So,its not that annoying…I 'd prefer if YC kill that retard Yun clan…They are the kind of maniacs who do not even feel they have done evil…all painted white under the guise of Yun Clan…Such retards deserves to die…I am fine either ways as long as someone dies

The big draw of this novel was YC taking revenge on one of those who hurt him in the first arch, cutting tendons… cutting his penis… he ends up with the guy. Then came other mini-massacres, finally the flash of the novel, is the proposal she showed, was a vengeful and cruel MC with enemies of any level, since those who only wanted to hit, even those who wanted to kill him, YC not He is a moralistic or good-looking MC, or one who holds no grudges.
Now that you understand what readers like about this novel, look at this other point, YC from the Deep God Convention has become an MC where 90% of the moment is PURE naive, dumb, kind or has pacifist ideas, seems to have forgotten moments that have already been betrayed or that your master has died for being kind naive donkey.
Massacre? Had some RARE, said more than he did.
It left almost 200 chapters without killing a considerable number of people.
Now understand, Mars sold a vengeful, vicious, and clever MC, now we’re just charging what he sold himself.

I agree, all these people that want YC to be this mindless slaughtering machine don’t understand that if he really became that it wouldn’t be interesting.

Especially for YC who has a past life were he became exactly that and ended regretting becoming that. The interesting thing is seeing him have all this anger and hatred and wanting to slaughter the world but still finding a way to come out a human being on the other side of it.

Definitely so because there’s absolutely zero chance his family and people he loved are gone forever. Even if they really all got killed? Which I highly doubt. Ultimately somehow they’ll be alive in the end.

So there has to be some light left in him for when that happens.

And YC helping out a girl is 100% within his character, and if you really have a problem with it? Then I don’t know what to tell you? Because that’s par for course, not just for this but with all the MC’s in these kinds of stories.

I just wanted add that there is a difference between getting revenge against people who’ve fucked you over and just killing random people for the fun of it.

Even a few chapters ago when he killed that entire city, had a reason for doing so, it wasn’t just a mindless killing spree, and also he didn’t kill everyone there, because he did spare the group that was with the Phoenix Cicada person.

we are living in a terribly fucked up world among horribly fucked up society with no salvation as far as the eyes can see…
by reveling in fictitious worlds and picturing ourselves in the fictitious characters like novels’ MC, we can escape the morals and values that are binding us in reality…
everyone without exception is bound down by religion, history, law, and societal values right after we’re born…
that’s why we rejoice in that imaginary feeling when MC rape, raid, slaughter, humiliate, as those are what we are deprived of as a price to be good citizens and conscientious human…
ESCAPISM, man…

I like the current yun Che and I like the old one. It’s character development. If yun che was the same since the beginning of the story I would I stopped reading it because it would be predictable and boring. A lot of other stories are like that, character never changes and half way through the story I just don’t read it anymore because I can’t predict how every outcome becomes. This constant evolution of the character is refreshing. I’m sure a lot of people agree but only people who aren’t happy and wanna complain comment.

You should read Ultimate Scheming System :joy:

Magus world is also kind of an evil character but probably more just selfish. But he is still a dynamic character.

I disagree with the whole characters are more complex and whatnot. It’s pretty repetitive, you can just assume any dude that appears will challenge or ridicule YC and then die or get crippled shortly afterwards, you can just assume any girl that mars spend more than 2 lines describing will be a 100 thousand year virgin with unmatched looks that will enter his harem.

Comments on Wuxias are always like you described. People whining about pointless shit, I’d refrain from going to the comment sections (of anything really) if you don’t want to read preposterous notions. As an example, the comment section of (another site’s) World of Warlock Magus was all about people praising mc’s lack of ethics and cruelty, while censoring whoever suggested the mc was evil (which he clearly was). It’s the same sentiment here, kill everyone, destroy everything. Wuxias are self-indulgent from the author perspective and much of their drive is how the reader identify with the author and then with the novel. Again, unless the chapter was unclear because of the machine translation and some clarification is in order, I’d recommend avoiding the comments altogether.

You are right…You cant make a novel simple as killing…gotta have twists…ATG is great…I am just being stupid coz its fun…& about me…I dont know man…I tear up at sad moments(especially when that damned sad anime music hits)I feel killing intent when I see characters I dont like…I smile at romcoms…I laugh at sitcoms …I get crazy passionate for all fictional situations seeing myself as the mc…I like to be selfish in here coz its harmless…Guess that is what happens when you have watched 1000+ anime.but I am very clear on reality and fiction…Maybe I am psychotic…maybe I m not…I dont know…but I have never really intentionally harmed anybody in real life…So guess thats a win

imagine you are in love with someone and the girl/guy is in love with you to… but she gets into an accident and looses her memory and falls in love with someone else and gives her first time to that guy and has his kids then regains back her memories and comes back and tells you what happened… would you not hate the guy who caused the accident?.. sad part in against the god is mc can have harem but female character cannot have harem…

It’s easy to write a character that’s dark and bloodthirsty and cares about nothing. It’s hard to write a character that has battle within themselves over who and what they are? Complexion, not Light or Dark but Grey. And the path that YC is on now Mars can define the entire series with it.
