The mix-up in gender pronouns (she/her and he/him used interchangeably for the same character), the mixed translations of the character names (heavy Ink, light ink, qingmo or Shining light/Jing Xing or Banana/“the banana”) really ruined my ability to follow the story and I spent more time confused and trying to follow than enjoying the story. I cannot follow at all and therefore cannot enjoy this novel. maybe if you skim it and don’t care who’s who, it’d be a great story
