The Olympian passage is a bit odd, but it turns out to be a wonderful passage. The author has added a lot of fun pop culture elements to it, such as the way Fujiwara drifts around a bend like the one in D, or the way he cuts people into pieces like in a movie thrill book, which makes the book seem new to other novels.
