The cultivation system in this novel is much more realistic than others in it’s genre, and breakthroughs in martial arts are explained rationally, such as muscles becoming more flexible, comprehending new skills/concepts ect… Later on the mc gets powers like spiritual will, but the buildup makes the reward much more satisfying. Fights are rooted in tactics, using poisons, traps and the environment to his advantage, because unlike in other wuxia/city novels the mc cannot dodge bullets. The character progression is also quite good with the mc’s personality going from a slightly more roguish to more restrained throughout the novel as he ages and experiences more.
