So fed up with the tens of thousands of kilometers bullsh*t if the characters were actively destroying the land as described the whole immortal realm would be full of leveled wasteland and as for the mortal realms they would likely have collapsed from all the destruction do the authors write it that way for the word count or because they think it sounds impressive instead of being ridiculous? Why can’t it just be several hundred meters it still impressive without getting stupid… just my pet peev about these types of novels really is over the top and detracts from story in my opinion.

Yeah chinese authors are terrible with numbers. I don’t mind the planets that are billions of kilometers in diameter and house a trillion people, stuff like that makes sense for the story and gravity can be explained away through the energy system. But when fights take place in a ring I don’t imagine the ring being 1000s of kilometers long, or rather I can’t imagine it, nobody can really do that. It always causes a disconnect between what is happening and what you are imagining. Like when 2 people talk face to face I imagine that at most 100 meters away from each other, not 100 kilometers. Same for the destruction of the environment here. How are these people even watching? How far away are they? Am I supposed to be impressed? Because I’m not. What does 10s of thousands of kilometers even mean here? Is that large? How large is this world even if nobody spots this shit. It’s gotta be in the trillions or quadrillions right? How much is normally destroyed when people fight? Fuck I don’t know.
I wish chinese authors would condense these numbers down a lot. They could explain that large scale destruction wouldn’t make sense in a fight because the power isn’t dense enough. People fight in close range because their reflexes are naturally extremely fast. Stuff like that

For a real life example the Earth has a circumference of 40,000 km so the author pretty much said that long chen blew up an area the size of Earth while training.
I agree with your thoughts on the population and land sizes I don’t mind them being impossibly big it just when it comes to fights and destruction it gets exaggerated by such ridiculously high numbers it all becomes a little silly and spoils the story. I always imagine thousands of kilometers to be 100ish meters… Have you seen the movie shazam! there’s a bit in it when the bad guy is giving a monologue and the hero is so far away he can’t hear a word of what he’s saying ;-p

Thousands of kilometers, or even millions won’t effect the place which is as big as out whole universe. Even this academy itself is like half the size of molly way. And if you remember, that nine star guy in his dream was too big. Just one shot was able to blast thousands of star.
If someones tag big, million or billion or trillion won’t be much.

Nope sorry I just can’t get behind this tens of thousands of kilometers description it just sounds and reads as being stupid. Story is good entertainment with amusing comedy and drama mixed well but the scale aspect is silly and is a common problem with authors, not all of them some don’t feel the need to exaggerate the numbers to the point of silliness. I do wonder if they write it that way as it is a lazy way to increase the word count same goes for some of the overly long and complex names of things which then then proceed to mention by that long time multiple times sometimes in the one sentence.

Just to clarify one point it would be different if the author said buildings & trees were leveled for kilometers I wouldn’t object so much to that but when it’s mountain ranges are flattened for tens of thousands of kilometers every time scale is mentioned it doesn’t sound impressive to me it just seems retarded. There is a word in anime & manga which fits it best and that is chuunibyou otherwise known as 8th grader syndrome.
